Beat the Bookies: Week 26

QPR's mauling by MK Dons last week in the cup ensured another weekend's profit, although the other three games which took place were all losing bets.

Town are overwhelming favourites to beat Alfreton this weekend. The best price you'll get on them is about 1.64, not great odds considering the Mariners have not been at their best recently.

Premier League

  • Reading v Sunderland - away win (3.1, Betfred). Reading have had some spectacular results recently, especially at home, but it has to be said that they've been very lucky on occasions to get something from these games. Sunderland have improved recently, especially away from home, where they have won 3 out of the last 6.

    Championship

  • Blackpool v Barnsley - away win (5.25, Betway). Barnsley may be in the bottom three but in the recent form table they are flying, with 4 wins and a draw out of 5. Blackpool are in the bottom three of the recent form table with just 1 win in 6.

  • Blackburn v Bristol City - away win (5.54, Pinnacle). Bristol City, like Barnsley, are finding form at the right time. They have 9 points from the last 6 games, whereas Blackburn have 8. The new manager seems to have made a difference defensively too - City recorded their first clean sheet in living memory in their last game.

  • Watford v Bolton - away win (3.6, Sporting Bet). Bolton's recent league form is not great but they have been playing well without getting three points, and they deserved a draw against Everton in the cup last time. Watford lost to Bristol City last time out, and they'd lost 5 times already at home this season - more than anyone in the top 10

    League Two

  • Rotherham v Northampton - away win (4.0, Sky Bet). Northampton are above Rotherham in both the league table and the recent form table. The Cobblers have 12 points from 6 games compared to Rotherham's 9. Rotherham have failed to beat Northampton in the last 5 meetings between the clubs. Their last three games have been humiliating defeats to bottom feeders Bristol Rovers, Barnet and Aldershot.

    Blue Square Premier

  • Forest Green v Wrexham - away win (3.0, Bet Victor). Wrexham hardly ever lose, but FGR seem to lose quite frequently, especially at home. Rovers have lost 2 out of the last 6, including another six pointer at home against Newport. Wrexham should have beaten Southport in their last game, and will be looking to make up for it in this one.
