Beat the Bookies: Week 28

ALL four tips lost last week in a fairly dismal weekend for our recommendations. It's the FA Cup and the FA Trophy though this weekend - plenty of opportunity to win back that money.

Home > 2012-2013 Season > Beat the Bookies > Week 28

Town are overwhelming favourites to beat Dartford this weekend. The best price you'll get on them is a miserly 1.6. The Darts have already won at Blundell Park, and they beat Luton in midweek so if anything the value lies in the away win at 5.5. It's also the main thrust of their season as the play-offs look like they're a distant prospect now for the Kent club.

Wrexham v Gainsborough is a similar game as well. Wrexham, like Grimsby, will view the FA Trophy as a welcome distraction, but very much a secondary competition. For Gainsborough it will be the most important game of the season, in their minds.

If you are brave go for Dartford and Gainsborough to cause upsets - they've had a few already otherwise they wouldn't be at this stage of the competition.

Championship

  • Cardiff v Bristol City - away win (7.5, Marathon). Bristol City have been a club transformed since Sean O'Driscoll took over. They looked doomed to go down when he took charge but since then they've had quite a few unlikely victories and have won 3 out of the last 4 games going in to this seemingly impossible task of winning at the Champions Elect Cardiff

    League One

  • Tranmere v Shrewsbury - away win (4.6, Bwin). Tranmere at one point were well clear at the top but have definitely been wobbling of late and lost 4 out of 6. Shrewsbury in contrast have lost just two from six, and those were against two of the better sides in the division: Sheff Utd and Swindon.

  • Bury v Coventry - away win (2.4, Betway). Coventry are one of the form sides of League One (3 wins in 6) whereas Bury (1 win in 6) are struggling at the bottom and don't seem to be showing much signs of pulling away from the relegation zone.

    League Two

  • York v Barnet - away win (4.2, Betway). York have not won for 8 games, and could be sucked into the relegation battle if things don't improve seen. Barnet at one point had a mini revival with a string of fine results, and they seem to be a club on the up with what's happening off the pitch. The purple patch has come to and end with no wins for three games, but York offers the perfect chance to put some distance between the Bees and the bottom two.

    FA Trophy/Cup

  • Grimsby v Dartford - away win (6.2, Canbet). Darts have already won at Blundell Park and they have had a good result in midweek. Town have not been playing that well recently.

  • Arsenal v Blackburn - away win (12.5, Bwin). Arsenal lost in the League Cup to Bradford. Blackburn are a much better team than the Bantams and they are in very decent form at the moment. With the Champions League just round the corner the Gunners could well drop one or two of their better players for this game.
