Newport v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 27/04/2013

GRIMSBY and Newport clash horns for the third time and final time, this time at Rodney Parade following the two matches at Blundell Park. This time the Mariners need to win after Newport's late goal at Blundell Park saw the Welsh side take a slender 1-0 league back to Wales with them.

Town have looked better playing 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 against Newport in the two recent games. Playing 4-4-2 against the Exiles the Mariners struggled to keep the ball and create chances and the wide players, particularly Taylor, were non-existent in the first half at Blundell Park on Wednesday night.

Striker John-Lewis and defender Simon Ford are both injured, and Frankie Artus (illness) is doubtful, but Joe Colbeck returns after his three match suspension. It's likely that Colbeck will play on the right side in place of Taylor.

In Town go 4-4-2 they'll pick two from Hearn, Cook and Hannah. If they go 3-5-1 they'll probably just pick one of the three strikers. Or they could go ultra-attacking and choose all three if they play 4-3-3.

Newport top-scorer Aaron O'Connor is set to return after missing the Blundell Park matches with a thigh strain..

Fishy Prediction: Newport 0 Grimsby 2
