Grimsby v Tamworth Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 31/01/2014

GRIMSBY head into their quarter final clash with Tamworth with a fully fit squad and the Mariners are likely to field a strong team in a tournament the players vowed to win after narrowly losing to Huddersfield in the FA Cup 3rd Round.

One player who won't be signing for Town is ex-striker Alan Connell who instead has elected to going to League Two Northampton on loan, despite being very close to signing for Paul Hurst's team. Connell's loss means that Andy Cook won't be going on loan and he could make a return for the FA Trophy match alongside new signing Oumare Tounkara.

Tamworth, who Grimsby have beaten the last four times they have played them (Town did the double over the Lambs last season and this season) are currently fourth bottom of the league. The Lambs have several players who are either cup tied or injured. On-loan Swindon striker Connor Waldon, is cup-tied along with new signing, midfielder Chris Palmer, who played for Oxford City on loan from Burton in an earlier round.

Defenders Duane Courtney (hamstring), Tony Capaldi (back) and midfielder Andy Haworth (hamstring) are all doubtful, although the Lambs have a large squad of over 30 .players including loan signings so shouldn't be short of numbers, even with seven substitutes allowed in this competition.
