Where will Grimsby be next season?

Grimsby v Notts Co Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 28/04/2018

TOWN have the first of two possible chances to avoid relegation today. A win over Notts County would guarantee safety, as would Barnet's failure to beat Morecambe. If the Mariners fail to win and Barnet beat Morecambe then it would roll over to the final week.

Whatever happens, Grimsby are in charge of their own destiny. If they win either of their remaining games or draw them both then they will be safe.

Notts County also need to win as they are certain of a play-off place but only two points behind third places Wycombe in the last automatic promotion spot.

Both teams will have their eyes on results elsewhere but fundamentally they both need to win so it should be an entertaining game.

Winger Siriki Dembele and striker Scott Vernon are both doubtful for Grimsby, who will probably field a similar side to the one which won at Swindon. Notts County top-scorer Jorge Grant missed the 4-1 win over Yeovil and is still doubt, but Matt Tootle is available again after recovering from an illness.

Grimsby drew 0-0 in the game at Meadow Lane, which was probably the last good performance under Russell Slade, and was near the start of the 20 game winless run.
