The Fishy - Grimsby Town FC

Question of the Week

Who will go down?

Slipped Through The Net

COMING soon to The Fishy is a batch of exclusive interviews with former Grimsby Town players. Questions - sent by you, the fans - have been answered by seven ex-Town stars and they will be available to read in just over a week's time.

The interviews have been taking place steadily over the past few months and because of the large amounts of information given, time has been carefully spent editing and preparing them for publication.

There is, however, an odd one out. Michael Boulding, who agreed to do the interview, was on loan at Sheffield United at the time, but you will still have the chance to read about his first spell with the Mariners.

Bradley Allen, Michael Boulding, Wayne Burnett, Aidan Davison, Kevin Donovan, Clive Mendonca and David Smith have all participated in Slipped Through The Net, which has had more than a generous rest.

Bradley Allen, one half of the potent strike force that helped save the Mariners from relegation last season talks about his departure from the club and his partnership with Boulding.

Michael Boulding himself divulges in his early tennis career and how he became involved in football and with Grimsby Town, along with many other memories of last season.

Wayne Burnett, who enjoyed four and a half years at Blundell Park, speaks about THAT goal, THAT season and THAT injury - and his hopes of finding a team for next season.

Aidan Davison enjoyed two successful seasons at Grimsby but he left under a cloud. Read what he had to say about his valued time at Blundell Park.

Kevin Donovan scored more than 20 goals in his first season at Grimsby and went on to become a fundamental figure in the first team under both Alan Buckley and Lennie Lawrence before departing for Barnsley.

Clive Mendonca, regarded as a 'Mariners Legend' and Town's greatest striker of the 90's, gives us the low-down on his striking partners, the Town fans, Alan Buckley and his time at Charlton where injury ended his career.

Finally David Smith - one of several Alan Buckley signings in the 97/98 season - talks about the heady Wembley days and the Great Escape of last season, when injury kept him out of the run-in.

These interviews will be available for fans to read on Saturday 29 March. The Fishy would like to hear any feedback from the interviews so there will be a small questionnaire for you to fill in if you so wish.

These are more than just your standard interviews. Each player talks about their arrival and departure from the club, making these interviews some of the most in-depth discussions - and they will only available to The Fishy first!
