Planning Application Date Announced

News From 13th May 2000

Brian Huxford Grimsby Town's planning application to move to a new stadium at Great Coates will be heard by North East Lincolnshire Council on Thursday June 22nd.

All of the design work and feasibility studies have been completed, and the site, just off the A180 approach road, has been purchased.

The 20,100 seater ground just needs the council to approve the planning consent and, provided the application meets all the requirements, the new stadium project can move into its next phase. The hopes are that work on the site can start as early as the Autumn of this year

The new stadium is eagerly awaited by both the club's board and the vast majority of Grimsby's fans. Without the new ground and its associated facilities, it is very hard to see how the club are going to turn around a weekly deficit of £15,000 whilst still remaining at Blundell Park.
