Question of the Week

Who will go down?

Handyside Returns

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 15/08/2000

The injury woes for Alan Buckley eased today with the news that Peter Handyside will be playing in a reserve match tonight (Wednesday). Gallimore will also take part in the game after recovering from his injured knee.

With Stacey Coldicott returning after serving his 1-match suspension (from last season) and the news that Wayne Burnett will resume training this week is a relief to Buckley.

With Handyside back in defence it will give the Grimsby manager a new option in a possible front line role to Livingstone, either from the start or as a substitute.

This is a good break for Town who seem to have had all their luck deserting them over the last few weeks.

With the injured trio back in the team it gives a a real chance for the Mariners to repeat the win over Portsmouth last season. Portsmouth also will not forget that Town victory and will be doing their best to ensure Town do not repeat it, which will provide a very interesting game for both sides.

Grimsby fans who are down in the dumps lately and need a boost to their morale would hope that this will happen at Portsmouth on Saturday, when Town will play their 4000th league game in their 122 year history.
