Midfielder David Smith rescued a point for the Mariners with a superb 84th minute volley down on the South Coast at Fratton Park. Alan Buckley's unusual 4-5-1 formation frustrated Pompey until Bradbury scored what looked to be the winner, before up popped Smith with a just-about deserved equaliser.
