Question of the Week

Who will go down?

Ray McKinnon Linked

Newspaper reports both North and South of the border are linking Grimsby Town with Ray McKinnon, currently playing with Scottish First Division side Raith Rovers. The story is given some credence by that fact that the 30 year old Scot used to play under Lennie Lawrence when he was Luton boss.

McKinnon is currently on a short term one month contract at Raith and would not cost a transfer fee. The midfielder played for fellow Scottish First Division side Livingston last season. Earlier in his career he had spells with both Dundee clubs, Aberdeen and Nottingham Forest.

Lawrence signed McKinnon from Dundee United for Luton in the summer of '98, only to release him on a free transfer to Livingston just over a year later.

If there is any truth in the stories, McKinnon will probably just be an addition to the first team squad, and certainly not the new front man that both the fans and the manager are looking for. Such a player will hopefully be signed on loan by Lennie Lawrence over the course of the next few days.
