Bloomin' Marvellous!

MATTHEW BLOOMER, who was released by Mariners boss Lennie Lawrence in May, has signed a two-year contract with Hull City in what is described as a 'dream move' for him as his move across the Humber means he can still live at home in Grimsby.

Although he is under the age of a Bosman move he was granted a free transfer by Lawrence who waived the right to a tribunal fee.

Talking to the Grimsby Telegraph he said, "I had a couple of other offers to consider but Hull is ideal because Grimsby is just over the Bridge so I can still live at home. I spoke to my family and friends and they all agreed that Hull City is the perfect place for me to be at this stage of my career, so there was no hesitation in signing. It's a dream move for me."

It was also reported that Brian Little has released or transfer listed more than a dozen players and has vowed to bring in nine quality replacements with the backing of new owner Adam Pearson before July.

The Hull management team, which includes former Mariner Dave Moore who is Little's assistant manager, have stated that they must bring in young, fast and powerful players as they set their stall out for an assault on the third division title.

The Tigers will move to their new super stadium in Autumn next year and their ambition, coupled with the size of the club, proved pivotal in Bloomer making his final decision said the Telegraph.

Chairman Adam Pearson said, "There is a growing feeling within football circles that Hull City is once more a club to join, and this means that attracting the right players is an easy part of the plan - getting them released from their clubs and controlling agents is the tricky bit."
