Where will Grimsby be next season?

Phil Jevons Looks Forward To The Liverpool Clash!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 08/10/2001

TICKETS for the Liverpool clash tomorrow are selling like hot cakes! The Mariners have sold 5,200 seats for the match - the equivalent of a home crowd at Blundell Park. Tickets are priced at: Adults £13, Concessions £7 with the allocation being 6,300.

Tickets are currently on general sale and will be on sale at the club shop today (Tel: 01472 605050) and until 2pm tomorrow although fans can pay on the turnstiles at Anfield.

Phil Jevons in particular will be looking forward to the clash and says he will be making himself an enemy in his own home when he lines up for Grimsby Town against his boyhood heroes Liverpool tomorrow night.

"If Grimsby wins" he told the Grimsby telegraph "I'll be an enemy not just in my own house, but with all my mates as well. There's been a lot of banter and a few jokes flying about but it's just all part and parcel of the whole Liverpool thing. Apart from my Dad, who partially switched allegiance with me, most of my mates stayed with Liverpool. They wanted Everton to do well for me - but not too well.

"All of my family will be going and most of my mates, but I won't need to get them any tickets, they'll be in the Liverpool end with their season tickets."

"The big crowd will be a good thing for the lads and it's a great day for them and it's a little bit extra-special because I used to stand there as a youngster watching the likes of Rush and Barnes."

"My hero was Kenny Dalglish and it will be wonderful to be out there."

"I'm looking forward to it and hopefully we'll be able to hold our own. We're under no illusions. It's going to be tough but it's a special occasion for everyone, the fans, the team, not just me. We may as well go there and attack them and see what happens."

Billo says: There is no truth in the rumour that Liverpool have called in the technicians to change the official scoreboard at Anfield (which can only record a single digit.) to double digits!
