A new ground is a nice idea, I'm sure, but a nice new EMPTY ground is another question. With the lowest attendences in the 1st division is a big new stadium the right answer? Attendences would initially rise with inquisitive spectators, but would these numbers be sustained? Especially if there wasnt a transformation of fortunes on the pitch? Where is the money comming from anyway? We are told each week that there is no money for players or wages; there will surely be even less if a new ground is built! So what will we have, a new half full ground, a rise in prices, because we cant afford new players a decline in the standard of football; the thing we are all there to watch when it comes down to it? How many of you turn up now and complain more about BP than the team?? Not many I'm sure.
Does the 'vanity' of a new ground will not hide bad football, shouldnt the money be more wisely invested in such schemes as a youth academy, or scouting networks? This would provide a source of players and potential transfer fees??
Dont get me wrong I am a great supporter of GTFC, and I am not BPs biggest fan, but I think we need to prioritise and get things right on the pitch first then move forward. A new stadium doesnt make the team better, just take a look at Oxford Utd!! Cheers

I am in favour of the new ground and think it is about time that we, the supporters of Grimsby Town Football Club, were told exactly what is happening about it!

If we don't move into a new stadium soon I can see
the FA closing down the wooden main stand. I've been informed that it is the oldest stand in the football league. ???

come the day when premier league div 2 becomes a reality for the insatiable accountants running the 21st century football clubs, you can be sure that the mariners and their fifties throwback ground will not be invited.i, as a victim of my birthright, will still trek over from my exile but will anybody walk around the corner to blundell park?

This is so stupid how many other teams are building new grounds or have done, and it has to be Town who suffered by the council.Come on we need a new ground, Blundell Park is past it its to small and it is not a first division standard ground.

we need a new stadium, not only for the football point of view but it would be the nicier way to enter grimsby instead of the docks!

GTFC need a new ground ASAP and the great coates location is a very good choice

whats your problem great coates?...i could understand it if your village was some quiet leafy subburb,or in an area of outstanding natural beauty, but its neither in fact its more or less in the middle of an industrial estate, with a motorway running on one side and a major access road running through the middle,so what difference would the redevelopment of a football facility necessary to the future of GTFC and its supporters make to your lifestyle,or is it that you would rather have another fish factory,or better still another chemical factory in your back yard, coz lets face it if your naivity really believes that nothing will ever be built on there, then you are bigger fools than i/we ever thought you where.

Is the Grimsby Council really that blind? Building a new Stadium will bring in extra cash as more people can go watch Town play, and it will give Grimsby a much needed 'feel good' factor...

Two separate studies have shown Great Coates is the only viable site. The net environmental impact will be positive if anything. NE Lincs needs the development. It is not overdeveloped like the prosperous Thames Valley so let Grimsby have its way.

There has been talk of this ground since I was 13. I'm now 20 and it's all getting a bit tedious now. We obviously need this ground sooner rather than later. That said, we need these 'FANS' to come and support Town (that includes the glory hunters at Anfield) to fill this ground. If we can take 6,000 fans across the Pennines, then they can make it to BP.
By having the new stadium, it will increase the profile of the club in numerous ways. Such as higher attendances, more revenue, therefore attracting bigger and better players. As well as builing this ground, Town should consider improving training facilities. Cheapside, Waltham is hardly adequate for a 1st division side.
I'll always support Town, no matter what though, but will everyone else ?
Up the mariners !
P.S. To Adam (see u in the Jube later)

A new stadium is needed to boost the interest for Grimsby Town inside and outside the Town. The Mariners are the front ship of the town and it should shine even in a grey North Sea wheather.
I therefor surely hope that a new stadium that suits the Fishermen comes.

Although I'm a Pompey fan, I've always had a liking for the Mariners, so much so that I saw the 1998 play off win at Wembley against Northampton. Good luck in your quest.

I think all football teams need a new ground!
Spectator sports need a quality surrounding to entice them to watch there.
More fans = customer satisfaction and extra income for the clubs
The old grounds are not attractive enough to make you want to experience a spectator sport and deserves to be built.
Make me want to go there....for sure

It's time for the narrow minds to step off the stage. The football club should be something the whole town and its people should be proud to support.
