Board Power Shift As Shares Change Hands

By: Nick Osborne
Date: 26/12/2001

A LARGE block of shares has changed hands at Grimsby Town Football Club, significantly altering the balance of power at the club.

The change has been brought about by the shares of Ian Blakey, the Hull businessman, being sold to a current director believed to be John Fenty. The Grimsby Telegraph Reports that Blakey had acquired the shares from former director Bryan Huxford who sold his shares when he quit the board earlier this year.

It is not known yet whether Mr Fenty now becomes the largest single shareholder instead of Dudley Ramsden who, until today, was in that position. Even if that is not the case it places Mr Fenty as one of the biggest shareholders.

John Fenty was previously a board member when Bill Carr was chairman and together with Mr Rouse another former Bill Carr board member joined the current board by invitation.

The announcement comes as no surprise with the move being rumoured just over a week ago. What is not certain is what this change will mean to the board in the future.
