Where will Grimsby be next season?

Allen Rejects Rovers

BRADLEY Allen has turned down a move to Third Division Bristol Rovers in the hope that he might receive a new contract offer from the Mariners now that their finances have become a bit clearer this week.

The out-of-contract striker, who has been at Blundell Park since the summer of 1999 and made 20 starts for Grimsby last year, had been expected to depart for pastures new as part of the general reduction in squad numbers by Paul Groves during the summer.

However, the Romford-born playmaker (31) is keen to play at the highest level he can in the game, and is hoping that a new contract with the Mariners may materialise over the summer break.

"I had talks with Bristol Rovers and they were very keen. At this present time I'd like to stay at Grimsby and I'm hoping that there might be a contract here" Allen told Radio Humberside, whose partnership with Michael Boulding in the final two months of last season was a huge factor in Grimsby still being in Division One.
