Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

No More Ticket Price Rises At BP!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 15/08/2002

CHAIRMAN Peter Furneaux, in an interview with the Grimsby Telegraph, said today that although he warned that the club could be forced to raise ticket prices for the second time this summer if they failed to get a settlement in league's case against Carlton and Granada, no increase would be made.

That means that first division football at Blundell Park is cheaper than watching neighbours Scunthorpe, Hull and Lincoln in the Football League basement.

But the club have extended the season ticket offer - pro rata - until the end of August. This year's sales currently stand at 2,800, 150 down on last year.

"A further price increase across the board was considered - it had to be - but at the end of the day this club prides itself on being able to offer top quality League football at the lowest possible prices," said Furneaux.

"We are sure that the fans will appreciate the difficult financial position we find ourselves in and will therefore be aware of how much the club has thought of them when making this decision. Of course our finances are a worry and it really needs everyone to get behind the club and show their support."

"We will be monitoring the situation closely and we urge the people of Grimsby, Cleethorpes and the surrounding district to show how much they care for Grimsby Town. Ideally the best way for the fans to back us is with a season ticket, which represent tremendous value."

"The price has been held until the end of this month on a pro-rata basis and gives fans a four-match discount. It also gives them priority on big cup matches home and away when there may be limited tickets available."
