Question of the Week

Who will go down?

Forest Report Card

AFTER a fifth straight League defeat, many of the players have been sanctioned to a detention class at the beginning of the week, minus one or two players who did okay against Forest.

Home > 2002-2003 Season > Report Cards > Forest (h)

Coyne: Not like him to make a couple of mistakes, but that's what he did. We all know he's not great in the air, but to be out-jumped by someone as small as Macca is an error. Could have been a foul, but there were no real complaints. Also sold a pass way too short to McDermott, but made some decent saves in the second half.

Grade: C-

McDermott: Ran up to the halfway line well but then seemed lost as to who he was supposed to be linking up with. Had a shooting chance early in the second half but was crowded out. Once or twice he let players sneak past him.

Grade: C-

Gallimore: The sending off may well be a blessing in disguise, as it will surely leave the door open to Ford. Gally looked unsure about everything all afternoon and deservedly got sent off. He has his moments like that, as I'm sure you're all aware of.

Grade: D-

Groves: Gave away a lot of free kicks and lost out in the battle of pace. Both Harewood and Johnson ran past him as if he wasn't there. Even Johnson won headers against Groves. Didn't look comfortable in defence at all.

Grade: D

Chettle: Better than Groves, marginally. His knowledge of the Forest players may have had a part to play in this, but it's just a guess. Injured his back again, which prompted the return of Ford to the side. It pleased the fans.

Grade: D+

Campbell: Lost out in every 50/50 challenge and made sideways passes. In fact, Campbell was only spotted once in the first half when he hit a shot well wide of the goal. I thought it was Dave Smith at one point.

Grade: D

Barnard: Lucky not to see red in the final ten minutes for a bad tackle near the corner flag. Looks to me as if he might be a bit unfit (we've been saying this all season). He does not impress anyone at the moment, and yesterday's performance did little to change anyone's opinion.

Grade: D-

Coldicott: Decent performance in the centre of the field once more by Stace. If everyone else was as committed to the cause as our number six is, then we wouldn't be at the bottom of the table.

Grade: C+

Pouton: Lost the ball a lot, didn't muscle anyone off the ball and didn't surge forward like he sometimes does. It's hard to see why people think he's a quality player after this latest performance. He didn't even knock any players over or treat us to a step-over.

Grade: D

Robinson: He appears to be improving with each game that comes, and is growing in confidence all the time. The goal in midweek has settled him down and he looks to have grown in strength. Think Bradley Allen, but bigger.

Grade: B-

Kabba: With his back to goal, 30 yards out and with a defender up against him, he's just another Town striker. Give him a ball to run onto, give him a defender to run at and he's Boulding. Unfortunately we never played to his strengths and we never looked like giving him something to run onto. Every ball that reached him was a long ball from the back. Had two shots in the second half, both went wide, and he walked and danced around in the penalty area to win a corner.

Grade: C+

SUBS

Ford: With a bit of pace at the back we didn't look as vulnerable but Harewood and Johnson soon realised it was Groves with the weakness. Although the last goal involved Ford, the Town team were already stretched and he can't be faulted.

Grade: C

Mansaram: Came on too late to have an impact on the game. Had to take centre twice and got at least one other touch (and a good flicked-on header) but that's about as much action as he saw in the last 10 minutes.

Grade Guide

A*This is almost impossible to achieve as I will refuse to give anyone this grade - unless they score six goals and get opposing players sent off.
AThis is more possible to achieve, although the player must have had a brilliant game i.e. he can't have put a foot wrong all match.
A-The player must have performed superbly, setting up goals, scoring goals, making match-winning tackles etc.
B+The player played to a very high standard indeed having been influential throughout the 90 minutes.
BThis can be achieved if the player had a very good game overall but could be forgiven for making one or two minor mistakes.
B-The player put in a performance worthy of special mention for his efforts on the pitch or otherwise having a good game.
C+A mark for players who have had an average game but at the same time played well in patches and may have had an impact on the final score.
CAn average performance but not worthy of being dropped for the next game - a competent performance.
C-Start thinking about the player's attitude and commitment on the pitch. Showed little effort and was probably invisible for most of the match.
D+Poor game and realistically shouldn't feature in the next game.
DThis player shouldn't be playing in the near future.
D-The player deserves to be fined for his abysmal performance
EThe player should be sacked
F And then shot
