FANS' favourite Steve Livingstone returned two months ahead of plan to come on as a substitute during Town's 3-0 win against Ipswich and stated "Playing is the best therapy I've had", and is cover for Steven Kabba and Darran Mansaram when the mariners play Watford on Saturday.

Livvo was not expected to play again until Xmas but he has confounded the medical people with his recovery. But when Steve came off the bench, he got a standing ovation from the Blundell Park faithful and for the last two weeks wanted to take part but being held back.

In an interview with the Grimsby Telgraph he said; "I've been pestering the manager and Grezzer, telling them that it felt all right. But they wouldn't let me play. I've been moaning and pestering everybody for two weeks and they've just been ignoring me. But getting back on the pitch was the best I've felt. That's been the best therapy for me. Better than anything else I've had so far.

"If anything starts to affect my physical side after having the injury I'll stop." Due to the injury, Livvo has short term memory loss and lost half a stone in weight due to his lay off .He's told Groves that he's fit and raring to go if he's needed as cover to the other 2 centre forwards, and if they are injured he wants to start against Watford.

"As far as I know I'm possibly in the squad but if I'm needed I'll give what I can. I'd like to be able to feel my way back in and try and get 40 minutes under my belt and build it up gradually. But the way Kabba played hopefully he'll be fit. When someone's on form like that we need them in the team."

Livvo was nursing sore ribs after the first challenge in the Ipswich game, but never thought about bottling the challenge and on his comeback has spent the time training with the youth team and had help from Neil Woods but knew the only way to test his injury was to play in a League Game.

"I was all right. If there's any adverse reaction I won't be messing about. I wasn't worried about that first header - I was just hoping I had won it! I didn't want to start badly. "It was nice to come on with the score at 3-0 when there was no pressure."
