Where will Grimsby be next season?

Oster Back and A New Signing!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 21/02/2003

PAUL Groves is expected to sign Portsmouth midfielder Richard Hughes this morning and the return on loan of Sunderland's John Oster with both players to be in the team against Ipswich tomorrow.

Mariners Net reports quotes Groves as saying "Richard is a very talented midfielder and we are delighted to have secured his services for a month. He played against us earlier this season for Portsmouth when they won here in August and had a good game. We have kept an eye on him since then and made our move this week."

"He is a tall lad, strong on the ball and he likes to play in a central position. When you look at his career so far he has a good pedigree and he is still only 23."

"Obviously it was a frustrating time for us, missing out on several of our targets but you have to keep plugging away. You have to take your hat off to these two lads who have the desire to come here and play first team football. Others have not taken that opportunity but these players obviously have a great mental strength and a determination which will be a great addition to the squad."

DOB: 25.06.1979

Weight: 13st 3lb
Position: Midfield
Nationality: Scottish
