GEORGES Santos is an injury doubt for Saturday's must-win game at Blundell Park. The former Blade is rated doubtful for the clash with the Eagles as he is suffering from a groin injury.

Paul Groves has to decide whether to play Michael Boulding, despite the fact that the former Villa striker is not fully fit. "Michael can't train between games at the moment because of his ankle," the Town boss told the Grimsby Telegraph. "At the moment he can only play and then rest otherwise it aggravates the injury."

Since the departure of John Oster, Grimsby's new 4-5-1 formation has yielded no goals, and resulted in two consecutive defeats, causing Groves to consider returning to a 4-4-2 line-up and risking partnering Boulding and 18-year-old Darren Mansaram up front in a game they simply cannot afford to take anything but maximum points from.

Otherwise top scorer Stuart Campbell and on-loan Pompey midfielder Richard Hughes are both struggling with knocks after two games in the space of four days leading into the Palace game.
