Well, it seems not a moment since the Sheffield Wednesday game seems to have passed, before the Mariners are on their travels again.

This time we visit seaside rivals Blackpool who are only just a handful of places above Town in the table.

Blackpool Facts

LAST SEASON 13th in Division Two. Season of mid table obscurity last year, the Tangerines will be hoping to push for a play off spot this year, but have found consistency hard to come by so far this term.

MANAGER Steve McMahon Manager since January 2000 when he replaced Nigel Worthington, McMahon guided Blackpool to play off victory in his first season and has since kept the club in division two. Is now under pressure to try and take the Tangerines to the next level.

TOP PLAYERS

John Murphy Big, strong centre forward who netted 19 goals for Blackpool last season. Formed a dangerous partnership with now Southampton striker Brett Ormerod a few seasons back, but has found goals hard to come by this season, and has been unable to force his way into the starting XI.

Richie Wellens Former Manchester United midfielder who is a vital cog in the Blackpool engine room. Signed on deadline day in the 1999/2000 season and now has over 100 appearances for the Bloomfield Road club to his name.

Grimsby Town Team News

The major news for the Mariners is that winger MARCEL CAS will be out for 2-3 weeks after receiving a gash in each knee in the Sheffield Wednesday game. Manager Paul Groves reported that the Dutchman needed a total of 12 stitches in both knees, so will certainly miss out on the trip to Bloomfield Road.

In his place will come young midfield starlet GRAHAM HOCKLESS who came on and impressed on Saturday on the left hand side of midfield. This will mean that STUART CAMPBELL will shift over to the right hand side.

Elsewhere, minus any late knocks, Town will be unchanged from the side that finished at Hillsbrough. Blackpool Team News

Defender GARETH EVANS will definitely miss out after he was stretchered off in their 2-1 win over Notts County on Saturday. The extent of his calf injury is not known, but he will certainly have no part to play. He will be replaced by 21 year old defender DANIEL COID.

LEAM RICHARDSON could be back in contention after recovering from his ankle injury, but he will probably only make the bench.

Ex Stockport defender MIKE FLYNN will also miss out through his calf injury as will fellow defender TOMMY JASZCZUN, leaving Steve McMahon fairly short of defenders in his thin squad.

Like many sides Town will meet this season, the last time they played Blackpool was when they were last in this division - in the 1997/98 season. This game was in February, with Town enjoying a nine game unbeaten run at Blundell Park. It was a single Darryl Clare goal for Town that secured all three points when he struck on the hour mark.

Fishy Prediction Blackpool have already won in their last three games - that has to end somewhere and the way Town have played in the last 2 games makes me confident of victory.
