Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby be next season?

Stan Joins Chester!

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 17/02/2005

FORMER Town midfielder Ashley Sestanovich is to return to Blundell Park next week after signing for League Two rivals Chester City. The 23-year-old was released from his contract by Sheffield United this week, but has quickly found himself a new club. Town play Chester on Tuesday.

Sestanovich had been on a season-long loan at Blundell Park from Sheffield United, but was asked to leave in January after a series of disciplinary problems - culminating in a red card against Northampton for threatening the referee.

The temperamental winger has undoubtedly a lot of ability; whether Chester boss Ian Rush will be able to make the most of Stan's talents only time will tell

  • Town's reserves lost 2-1 at home to Doncaster on Wednesday, with Greg Young on target for the Mariners. Several trialists were included in Grimsby's line-up including striker Richard Pacquette and Bobby Lewsham.

Grimsby: Clarke, Chris Hyam, Richard Pacquette, Liam Parker, Tony Crane, Greg Young, Reeves, Ford, Glenn Downey, Bobby Lewsham, Saunders.
Subs: Miles Chamberlain, Paul Fraser, Ashton, Nick Hegarty, Andy Ward.

  • Town are hoping to be able to welcome both Jason Crowe and Rob Jones back from injury for the long trip to high-flying Swansea on Saturday. The pair are both expected to join the squad for the trip to South Wales.
