Beat the Bookies: Week 30

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 22/02/2007

LAST weekend Beat the Bookies broke even as our banker Hartlepool beat Torquay, but Chester could only draw 0-0 with Wrexham!

This weekend an in form Grimsby travel to Macclesfield looking for their fifth consecutive win. Although Town have had the breaks in recent games, their confidence is sky high and at 15/8 are worth backing to beat Macclesfield who have only picked up 7 points from the last 7 league games.

Elsewhere in League Two Chester are worth backing at 7/2 to win at Swindon, who have wobbled in recent weeks and not won for 4 games. Chester's form in contrast is much better, and they have picked up 8 points in the last 4 games.

Torquay have had a further blow this week with their chairman resigning and look doomed. Darlington should be the latest side to pick up three points at Plainmoor and can be backed at 11/8.

Finally the Hartlepool juggernaut rumbles on and Pools should triumph against a feeble Boston side who also look in serious danger of returning back to non-league football. This week Hartlepool are odds on to win away but are still good value at 4/5

Recommended Bets

  • 1. Grimsby to beat Macclesfield (15/8).
  • 2. Darlington to beat Torquay (11/8).
