David Peasgood - R.I.P

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 11/11/2007

IT is with great sorrow that we hear of the death of David Peasgood who died this week in The Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London, aged 48. David was part of The Fishy in the early days as a feature writer and reporter.

Born in Grimsby, he lived in Scarthoe as a child and was a Nunny lad attending Nunsthorpe School and Wintringham. He was married with 4 children and lived in Waltham.

He was well known in the town as an art lover and was a major figure in the Caxton Theatre which was his main love.

His whole life was connected to the arts. His sister, Julie Peasgood, is a well know actor and his children were all involved in the arts. His daughter Emily is a singer and his son Christopher a dancer.

A keen Mariners fan, he joined the Fishy crew and wrote features such as the famous "Fred and Bert" column and the "Might Mariner" journal.

David was Mighty Mariner at Blundell Park and enjoyed the fun with the fans and writing his journal of his capers.

But most of all he was a family man and reveled in his children's success.

A very funny man who once told me that he must be important as he had an office with a window!

He will be missed by all who knew him and Grimsby has lost a man who made a significant contribution to the town.

David leaves his wife Sandra and his children Emily, Christopher, Jennifer, and Andrew.

A memorial service will be held in December the date to be announced later.
