Beat the Bookies: Week 25

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 30/01/2008

ROCHDALE'S win over MK Dons ensured another big payday for Beat the Bookies and its followers. It's just a pity Newcastle never beat Arsenal, a shame we dropped out of League Two where the real money is to be made!

Grimsby's tremendous run continued in the last week, with 4 points from the two home games, but the truth is they could and perhaps should have had no points at all from the two matches. This week they travel to Notts County, the team they played on the opening day of the season. The score then was 1-1 and it would seem a likely outcome again. For the record Grimsby are 8/5 and County are 6/4. The draw at 9/4 would seem to be the best bet and you can even get 11/2 for a repeat of that 1-1 scoreline with bet365.com. Backing Town to win at the moment is not good value as their recent form has not been good, despite the excellent results.

Elsewhere in League Two Wrexham are an excellent team to back at the moment, with half a new team acquired this month, but the bookies yet to fully assimilate this information as the Welsh club did not play at the weekend. They are at home to Darlington, whose recent form is good which may put you off, but Totesport at the time of writing are offering 11/4 for a home win, which is considerably better than most of the other bookies. Bet quickly and do not miss out!

Morecambe's form has suffered since their passage to the JPT Area Final (as in truth has ours too). They are away at Barnet, who seem to have either long winning runs or long losing streaks - at the moment they are on the former. The Londoners are currently 11/8 with bet365.com to beat Morecambe - who have not won in four league games - at Underhill.

Recommended Bets

  • 1. Wrexham to beat Darlington (11/4, Totesport).
  • 2. Barnet to beat Morecambe (11/8, bet365).
