Beat the Bookies: Week 32

STOCKPORT came up with the goods again this week beating Lincoln. The season is now approaching its climax and the teams at the top and bottom suddenly have so much more to play for than those in the middle. Let's see what those bookies are made of this week.

Let's not mince with words this week. There is one outstanding bet on the League Two coupon which otherwise is a pretty pedestrian set of fixtures. Wrexham are bottom of the league, desperate for wins (draws just will not do any more for the Welshmen). Off they head on Saturday to Brentford, ensconced in total mid-table mediocrity, nothing to play for and with players and fans alike already planning their summer holidays. What's more Brentford's recent form is woeful. In a bizarre role reversal it is they who are bottom of the recent form league, and Wrexham who are perched in glorious mid-table oblivion.
So what do the bookies do? They unbelievably have been Wrexham 11/4 for an away win, probably the best bet since Croatia came to Wembley. What are those bookies thinking of?
The only other game worth even mentioning is of course Grimsby's. Town's league season has been given an unexpected boost with the news that Rotherham have been docked three points. They head to Mansfield, who are also desperate for a win. Our players will be keen to impress Alan Buckley enough to get to Wembley, but they'll also want to avoid injury or cards. The bookies make Town narrow favourites at 13/10, but all three outcomes are fairly likely.
