Grimsby v Cheltenham Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 02/02/2018

GRIMSBY look certain to make several changes for the visit of Cheltenham on Saturday. Karleigh Osborne and Mitch Rose are both suspended after their red cards at Yeovil, but winger Siriki Dembele has recovered from his back injury so could well start, as Russell Slade will be desperate to ease the pressure on him.

Slade has been given a second vote of confidence this week and can only be a defeat or two away from finally getting the sack, which almost all supporters seem to believe is long overdue. Forward Simeon Jackson and defender Easah Suliman look likely to feature although Town are only allowed to have five loan players in the squad and there are currently seven at the club. One of them, however, is the injured 'keeper Jake Kean, and the others are Matt, Wilks, Verman and Jayesymi. First choice goalkeeper James McKeown remains injured, his absence largely coincides with Grimsby's nine-match run without a win.

Cheltenham also have some new signings. Midfielder Jake Andrews has joined from Bristol City and defender Joe Rodon has cemented his loan move from Swansea in a permanent deal. Defender Taylor Moore and veteran striker Danny Wright are both suspended. Forward Sanmi Odelusi is looking to return from a recent injury.

Cheltenham normally beat Town but the Mariners reversed the recent trend with a 3-2 win in Gloucestershire in October.
