Dixon Motors has pledged its committment to Grimsby Town by signing a one-year extension to the current sponsorship deal with the club.

Though no financial details of the deal have been released, the Mariners' marketing manager Tony Richardson said that Dixons' backing was "being maintained at a very high level".

Hull-based Dixon Motors, headed by Simon and Paul Dixon, have already sponsored the Mariners for the last two years. The contract extension will take them up to the planned move to the new stadium.

Mr Richardson said:

"They've taken up their option of a one-year extension and that will see us nicely up to the new stadium,
"The deal proves that Dixons are here to help Grimsby Town Football Club - there's no two ways about that.
"They haven't asked for anything from the club, no executive boxes, nothing.
"They've told us to sell them," [referring to the normal situation where a club sponsor demands an executive box for home matches]. "There has been no hesitation.
"They have backed us straight away.
"It's important that the fans are aware that Dixons are right behind this club."
