Nicholls Dropped

News From 3rd March 2000

Mark Nicholls Just a week after signing Mark Nicholls (pictured) on-loan from Chelsea Alan Buckley is thinking of dropping the newcomer, and playing Kevin Donovan up front in his place.

The thinking is that despite the decisive penalty than Nicholls won last Saturday, he may still be a short on match fitness and could start from the bench.

The other surprise change is that Tony Gallimore has returned earlier than expected from his compassionate leave. Galli will replace David Smith, who has a calf strain injury. Town boss Alan Buckley is resting Smith in the hope that the injury will be cleared up for Tuesday's home game against Wolves.

Postscript to this story: Nicholls was not dropped in the end.
