Where will Grimsby finish?

Nielsen Bradford Trial

By: Jostein Jensen
Date: 01/02/2001

David Nielsen has now been allowed by his Danish club FC Copenhagen to stay for two further days in the UK. The ex-Grimsby striker is on trial with Premiership strugglers Bradford City. The 24 year old Dane started his training session with the Bantams on Thursday.

Bradford boss Jim Jefferies explained that the Yorkshire side are in need of a striker with Stan Collymore having just been sold to Spanish club Real Oviedo. "It doesn't cost us anything to have him here for a bit and we are just taking a look at him," said the Bradford manager

FC Copenhagen's Director of Sport, Niels Christian Holmstrøm confirmed this: "Bradford are interested, and therefore we have agreed that David can stay there today and tomorrow. Having said that, the situation must be resolved soon. Unless Bradford are interested in buying Nielsen in the next two days, then we expect to see him report for training with FCC on Saturday morning," underlined Holmstrøm.

The Danish Director of Sport also underlined that only FC Copenhagen, are only interested in a sale, not a loan on Nielsen, as was the case with the Mariners.

"Football is after all not a circus, where you can run around, as it best suits you." concluded Holmstrøm, no doubt alluding to Nielsen's antics whilst at Grimsby.
