Reserves Win Away at Donny

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 29/08/2001

CHRIS BOLDER was Town's reserve hero today scoring both goals in a 2-1 victory over Doncaster Rovers this afternoon. The 19-year-old midfielder, in his first professional year at Blundell Park, was part of a side which included Wayne Burnett and Bradley Allen, as well as trialist Michael Boulding.

Reserve team coach Wilkinson was reported to be satisfied with a good overall performance in which Town went a goal down just after half time at a stage at which Grimsby had dominated the game at Belle Vue. Rovers hit the woodwork shortly afterwards, but Town came out eventual victors thanks to the Hull-born midfielder's brace.

Grimsby Town: Ermes, Parker, Ford, Hanson, Morgan, Boulding, Burnett, Bolder, Chapman, Mansaram, Allen, Downes, Derbyshire, Lawrence, Thompson, Kirwin.

Doncaster Rovers: Warrington, Woolliscroft, Williams, Penney, Squires, Price, Tierney, Green, Campbell, Gill, Fell, Milligan, Howe, Wright, Slack, Watson

In another result today Town's youth side lost 1-0 at home to Port Vale in the Midlands Cup this afternoon.
