Broomes Talks Stalemate

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 11/12/2001

MARLON BROOMES' talks with the club have ground to halt after Sheffield Wednesday are believed to have nipped in with an eleventh hour bid for the Blackburn Rovers defender, although the Owls had previously stated they were not interested in the former England U-21 centre back.

It is understood that the Yorkshire side's interest is what has thrown a spanner in the works, particularly since the Mariners are only prepared to offer Broomes a contract until the end of the season.

Broomes has formed a solid partnership with Town skipper Paul Groves in the centre of the Mariners defence, and rapidly established himself as a firm favourite with the Grimsby supporters.

Town's game with Watford away has been moved forward to Sunday 10 February 2002 (KO 2:15 pm) as ITV Digital are to televise the game. Revised Fixture List
