Help Each Other!

By: Richard Lord
Date: 09/04/2002

FORMER Grimsby Town and current Norwich City striker David Nielsen has vowed to help the Mariners in their relegation battle - but in return he would like to see Town help Norwich.

The former Danish Under 21 international said: "We could beat Barnsley and help Grimsby, and they could do us a big favour by winning against Burnley. Hopefully I can score a couple of goals to help Grimsby stay up and get us promoted.

"I wish them all the best because Grovesy has done really well and he's a top man. I hope they stay up and it was a really good point for them at our place. They needed a draw, but we needed a win even more.

"Now we've got a really good chance of getting six points from the last two games," added Nielsen. The £200,000 signing has hit seven goals in his short spell at Carrow Road and is determined to help the club leap back up to the Premiership.

Speaking to the Grimsby Telegraph the Dane continued: "I really enjoy it here. It's a great club and there are a lot of supporters. I've signed a long term contract here and I'm very happy because that is what I was looking for.

"I've been playing well since I arrived here but my first half against Grimsby was my best yet - but I've had lots of great games. I know the game over here now and we're aiming for the Premiership. That's what everyone wants, and what everyone is thinking about.

"Maybe we were thinking about it too much against Grimsby. That was the worst we've played this year. Grimsby had more chances than we did. I had a couple and could have scored."
