Who will win League 2?

Taylor Looks To Future

By: Richard Lord
Date: 04/05/2002

FREE agent Robert Taylor is looking to tie himself down with a contract sometime over the summer. The former Manchester City striker hopes his good-will gesture of playing for Town for free will aid him in his bid to join another club.

Speaking to the Sports Telegraph he revealed: "As long as I am playing football I'm not bothered where I go." The 31-year old is prepared to bide his time in his quest for a new club.

"There have been a few sniffs and now I've just got to wait and see what comes along because some of the offers rest on the ITV Digital thing. But I'm in no rush at the moment and I'm just going to stay fit and enjoy my summer.

"If someone comes in with a deal then I'll say fine and sign it."

However Taylor has not yet ruled out a third stint at Blundell Park if the offer is there from the Mariners. "I came up there for free at the end of the season because there were only three weeks left and there was no reason to go into a contract.

"The injury is fine now and I played in the reserves up there and managed to get on the scoresheet. If they turned round and offered me something now I'd love to sign it.

"But for now I'll have to wait until the beginning of June when people get back from holiday and see what happens."
