Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

Macca To Join Hull City!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 19/05/2003

IT appears to be almost certain now that John McDermott will be playing for Hull City next season. Reports over the weekend have suggested that Macca wants to leave Grimsby and Hull seem to be firm favourites to sign him.

There is still some uncertainty regarding the future of Scunthorpe's Andy Dawson with Hull City declining to comment on the news that Dawson had signed for the Tigers. Hull City manager Peter Taylor will not comment on the deal and Iron's manager Brian Laws said: "We know nothing about it other than we're offering and we have offered and continued to offer Andy Dawson a contract. Andy Dawson has been concentrating fully on Scunthorpe United and the play-offs."

Dawson was a player that Paul Groves was interested in with Norwich city also in the frame.

Preston's Michael Keane is also reported to be looking favourably towards another spell with the Mariners as he has found his chance of midfield action hampered by the form of other young guns such as Etuhu, Skora and McKenna and with Alan McCormack coming through from the youth side, the young Irishman may feel that a switch to Blundell Park is what his career needs.

In other news, Paul Raven has signed a new two year deal with Carlisle United but Tommy Widdrington has been released by Hartlepools with Mike Newell saying, "Not keeping Tommy is the hardest decision I've had to make, He's done a fantastic job for us and his attitude has been brilliant. However, we feel that we need to look at something else for next season."
