Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

The Challenges- Nicky Law

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 04/03/2004

NICKY Law said at today's Blundell Park press conference: "I am taking over at a time when, thanks to Graham, the club have been able to get away from the problem positions. I just think it is a very good challenge for me."

"Grimsby has got a good tradition. I think it's set now with all the support the board have given to keep the club going. Like Graham, I am a believer that you have to start with work ethics. No one has a divine right to win a game of football."

"I am really looking forward to getting out later on with Graham, on the training pitch with the players and getting things moving forward."

Chairman Peter Furneaux said he was pleased with the progress Rodger had made with the team and was delighted to announce the new man.

"We are very pleased to welcome him. He has had recent experience that we require to go forward."

"One of the things I am always asked is: 'Are we giving the manager enough money?' Prudent management is the key to success. Without prudent management, you wouldn't have a football club. Nicky has been at that level."

"We have a gentleman here that wants success. He breathes success. When you talk to him, he talks success, and now I want that success to come to Grimsby."

Furneaux said he did not want to rush into an appointment in the early stages "For the next stage we agreed we needed to look slightly further afield and that is what we have done."
