Crane on Comeback Trail

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 24/11/2004

TONY Crane is hoping to return for the Mariners earlier than expected, possibly as soon as January. The 22-year-old sustained an horrific knee injury during the pre-season, with the initial diagnosis being that Crane would be out for a year. But the former Owl could now be set for an early return.

"It's been a long process to get myself back fit but it shouldn't be too long now", Crane told Mariners Net.

"It will take three or four more weeks of solid training and hopefully I'll get a couple of reserve games under my belt and then see where I stand."

Crane also believes the physical nature of League Two football will be suited to his game. "This league will suit me - there are a lot of long balls, balls lumped into the box. That's mostly my game, dealing with the physical aspects of the game.

"I need to get games under my belt. I'm probably looking at late January and the middle of February at the latest. That's my target."
