Beat the Bookies: Week 27

IT was a bad week for Beat the Bookies last week, but a great week for the Mariners, so we're all happy, it's only money after all and we still are beating them!

Town have now reached the heady heights of being strong odds on favourites to win a game at home, against a team who scored six goals as well in their last game. 8/11 for a Town win is probably not great value considering how close so many recent games have been (even last week's 4-2 was very close to being 3-3 at one point). Is 7/2 for a Dagenham away win worth a punt? They were the better side in the 0-0 draw at Victoria Road last month, and have now signed a new centre back who helped them win 6-2 on his debut in midweek. Our considered opinion is that the time to bet on Town to start to lose again is when Hird leaves, as it is a piece of information that the bookies are unlikely to have taken into account.
Elsewhere in League Two Chester really are sinking like a stone and need to start getting some points fast. They face a six pointer at home to Notts County and recent evidence suggests County are good enough to come home with all three points from the demoralised Seals. County are available at a tempting 15/8 with bet365.com
Finally Lincoln are on a terrific run and face our midweek opponents Macclesfield at home. City should pick up all three points at Sincil Bank and can be backed at a respectable 10/11 to win their fifth consecutive game.
