Buckley's Weekend Options

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 28/02/2008

ALAN Buckley has the chance to make one or two changes when his side face Morecambe away on Saturday for the second time in a week. Town were outplayed for large parts of the game in Tuesday night's cup match, but defended well and managed to score a valuable away goal.

With the two sides meeting again on Tuesday night and a place at Wembley awaiting the winner both sets of players will be equally "distracted" by a league game sandwiched between the two and without such an apparent reward. Alan Buckley is not normally a manager to rest players, but this may be a rare opportunity where the Town boss will take the chance to make a couple of changes and give Sammy McIlroy something to think about next week.

Buckley's main options are:

  • In defence Clarke could be switched to right wing back and young Ryan Bennett moved to the bench.

  • In midfield James Hunt is fit again to play after missing Tuesday night's game through injury.

  • Rather than playing Till behind North, Buckley could start with Gary Jones, or even play Nathan Jarman, Andy Taylor or Martin Butler alongside or instead of Danny North.

  • A change of formation.

Do not expect too many changes however given Buckley's track record.

Morecambe's regular 'keeper Shwan Jalal is available for the league game after missing the cup match as he was cup tied.

For other information about the tie see Tuesday's Preview
