Vote for your Player of the Year

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 11/04/2008

FISHY readers can now vote for their Player of the Year for 2007-2008. The shortlist is drawn from the players chosen for the monthly awards throughout the season.

Home > 2007-2008 Season > Player of the Month > Player of the Year

The following players have been chosen by our readers as their players of the month throughout the season to date, with the second and third places also shown.

That gives us a shortlist of permanent, regular players as follow.

Phil Barnes - Town's keeper has shown an amazing turnaround in form from last season, and has had an outstanding year. With one year left on his contract, and Gary Montgomery at the club too, Town should be well served in the goalkeeping department next season.

Ryan Bennett - It was a surprise at the season's start when rookie Bennett was given the No. 5 shirt but the Orsett-born youngster has been excellent and played in a number of positions in defence to gain valuable experience. A big one for the future.

Paul Bolland - Bolly has been one of Town's most consistent performers for the last three years.

Nick Hegarty - The forgotten at Blundell Park for so long, Hegarty finally got a decent run in the side this season and has made the left wing back position his own.

Tom Newey - Another player who consistently plays well and has made the transition from a left back to a back three player seamlessly.

Danny North - Buckley left Northy out at the start of the season but the local lad looks like ending up top scorer despite that. Had he played from the beginning of the season there might be more to play for now.

Please vote using Question of the Week.
