Where will Grimsby finish?

WREXHAM defender Richard Hope has been named by the Grimsby Telegraph as a firm target of the Mariners. The 30-year-old has a lot of experience in League Two having played for Darlington, Northampton Town, York City, Chester City and Shrewsbury Town, and made over 350 appearances.

The Stockton-born centre back has been transfer listed by Wrexham following their relegation to the Blue Square Premier last season.

Grimsby need to sign a couple of central defenders ideally before the start of pre-season to allow them to gel with the rest of the squad. Former Scottish international Robbie Stockdale of course joined the Mariners last week, but is expected to play primarily as a right back.

  • Two players who don't look like joinging Grimsby are former loan defender Sam Hird who has signed a new two year deal with Championship newcomers Doncaster. Likewise Michael Boulding has turned down a move to Lincoln as he is waiting for a League One club to offer him terms, which rules out the Mariners and a pack of chasing clubs in the basement division. League One side Scunthorpe were known to be interested in the former Mariner.

  • Two fixture changes have been made in recent days. The home game with Bournemouth has been moved to a Friday night on Nov 21st; the home game with Bradford has likewise been moved to a Friday night on Oct 24th.

  • The club have appealed to fans not to buy a batch of stolen shirts which have been placed on the on-line auction site Ebay.
