Gary Jones

Gary Jones AKA the lump. Having followed Town since 2000 (I'm only 18) Lump has to be one of the best strikers/(defenders on one occasion) I have seen. He had a great touch for the size of the man and was always there when we desperately needed a goal. He got off the mark for Town in the 1-0 win over Derby in the league cup at Pride Park showing his potential and the potential of the Town squad that season. His partnership with Michael Reddy soon started to blossom with Lump getting 17 goals in all competitions that season, with Reddy getting 14. His sending off in the play off semi final to Lincoln was overturned and Lump was there to play in the play off final against Cheltenham. The following season under Rodger and Buckley was not the best for Lump, notching up 8 goals including the winner against the gimps at Blundell Park before a persistent knee injury forced him to retire. He is now assistant boss at Colwyn Bay Football Club. He is still talked about on the terraces and will always be remembered as one of the club's best strikers. Long live the Lump.
