Grimsby's No. 2!
Grimsby's No. 2!

Moore or Less?

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 28/07/2010

PHSYIO Dave Moore has been named as Town's No. 2, replacing Chris Casper who left early this summer. Moore, who was a Town player in the 1980's and had a spell in football management, notably with Scunthorpe, is a surprising choice for the job, but will continue in his role as physio.

Town boss Neil Woods told Mariners Net: "I had no hesitation in appointing Dave as my number two, he is not only an excellent physiotherapist but he also has a vast wealth of knowledge on football, having been involved at all levels of the game. He also has a real passion for the club having been born here and played for his home town club before becoming Youth Team Manager. I know that he will make a significant impact on the coaching and fitness development of players and I am pleased to have to such an experienced person as my assistant."

Some fans will no doubt see this a cost-cutting exercise, and how Moore will manage to combine both roles remains to be seen.

Grim Rob Says: I remember Dave Moore as a player when I first started watching Town, and am pleased to see someone so committed to the club appointed for a key job. It slightly concerns me now that all three management appointments (Woods, Stockdale and Moore) have now been made from within, and that the club has perhaps become too inward looking. Only time will tell though!
