Connell Spares Town's Blushes

GRIMSBY got off to the perfect start on the South coast at Eastbourne when Rob Duffy scored after 26s of his debut! Connell played him through, and Town's new signing took one touch to control the ball and another to shoot past the 'keeper.

Grimsby had another couple of early chances, but the hosts gradually fought their way back into the first quarter of the game, then striking the bar on the half hour. Taylor scored shortly afterwards, and Eastbourne had further good chances to come from behind.

After the break Walker beat Wood and stepped in and put the home side up.

With 15 minutes left Connell made the most of a goalkeeping mistake and spared Town's blushes.

Connell added his second of the game when Duffy put him through and Town's leading scorer chipped the 'keeper with 5 minutes left.
