Question of the Week

Who will win League 2?

Kettering v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 25/11/2011

LEE Ridley will not be playing for Town again as he has left Grimsby after his contract was cancelled "by mutual consent". The left back, who has struggled with injuries this season, has been squeezed out the team by Conor Townsend and Jamie Green, although neither of the latter are long-term signings,

New signings Will Antwi and Luke McCarthy are both expected to feature for the Mariners. Experienced defender Antwi is likely to start in the back four with Kempson still missing through injury. Young winger McCarthy could start on the left wing for Town replacing the inconsistent Makofo, but looks more likely to begin the game on the bench.

Kettering's side has been decimated by financial problems this week, meaning manager Mark Stimson has had to cobble together a side of youngsters most of whom have never met before, and few of whom have ever played a game for any side, let alone Kettering. However whatever team Stimson puts out will doubtless rise to the challenge and adversity could bond the side closer together than they might have otherwise managed.

Grimsby, who have already beaten Kettering this season at Blundell Park. have been heavily back by punters for the game, with at one time several bookmakers suspended betting on the Mariners but are still generally available at around 4/6.
