Town Win Away Again

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 04/11/2012

GRIMSBY continued their fine away form with their first victory over Tamworth on the seventh time the two teams have met. A solitary goal in the second half by substitute Andy Cook was the difference between the two sides.

Shortly after Cook's goal Tamworth had Sam Oji sent-off for violent conduct, but it didn't stop the home side having a late rally and Town had to hang on in the end to record their third successive away win,

Marcus Marshall made his debut on the right wing for Town, and Ian Miller came in in the back four in place of the suspended Sean Pearson.

After a fairly dull opening 45 minutes the game came more to life in the second half. Town took the lead from a Colbeck free kick. The ball was flicked on by Disley and Cook, who had just come on, slotted it in at the far post.

After the sending off Town sat back on their lead a bit, as they are prone to do. Fortunately a strong performance by the back four ensured another clean sheet which was enough to get Town over the line..

It was not Town's greatest performance of the season but the Mariners will be satisfied to pick up another three points which goes some way to banish the disappointment of the points dropped at home recently.

Town's next game is on Tuesday night at Hyde. Hyde may be at the wrong end of the table but not a week goes by without a shock result or two in this division. so nothing can be taken for granted unless Grimsby are at their best.
