Grimsby v Buxton Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 23/11/2012

NATHAN Pond is suspended for the FA Trophy match with Buxton at Blundell Park on Saturday, so Ian Miller will take his place in the heart of Town's defence. Joe Colbeck and Frankie Artus will definitely miss out through injury however.

Colbeck is expected to be available in time for the Ebbsfleet match next weekend, but his knee injury is still not fully recovered,

Town are likely to make at least some changes to the squad which went top of the league last weekend, although the managers have vowed not to field a significantly weakened side.

However it is a chance to give players who have started mainly on the bench a run out to see if they can impress the managers.

One possibility is a chance for winger Louie Soares to stake his claim for a matchday place. Soares has returned to Blundell Park after a loan spell at Ebbsfleet. Soares made 4 starts for The Fleet during his time in Kent.

Buxton have never played Grimsby before. The Bucks are mid-table in the Evo-Stik Premier League, and have won three ties to get this far in the competition. They did well in the FA Cup as well as in the Trophy, getting through three rounds before eventually losing to BSN high-flyers Guiseley. The match at Blundell Park is probably their biggest game of the season so far so they will be highly motivated for the clash against a professional side like Grimsby.

If the match goes to a draw, Grimsby will have to travel to Derbyshire on Tuesday night for a replay.
