GRIMSBY Town manager Russell Slade has been publicly praised by a scout he worked with at one of his former clubs.

Steve Head, formerly Chief Scout at Charlton Athletic, worked with Russell Slade last season and spoke highly of the Town manager on the latest episode of The Scout 7 Podcast.

Head was joined on the podcast panel by Aston Villa's Head of European Recruitment, Ian Atkins, and Norwich City's Sporting Director, Stuart Webber.

"I worked with Russell Slade last season at Charlton and his knowledge of footballers in the lower leagues was ridiculous. So, so high," Head told The Scout7 Podcast.

"Any player, he knew. He had a view on everything and he had a strong, clear vision of what he wanted."
