Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby finish next season?

Cambridge v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 16/02/2018

GRIMSBY enter a new era with caretaker boss Paul Wilkinson's first game at the helm. It remains to be seen whether the former Everton striker will be given a chance to take on the job full time, but three points would certainly help the Grimbarian's cause.

Town also needs the points. 12 games without a win his sunk Grimsby for the play-off fringes to an outside possibility of relegation.

Danny Collins is still excluded from the squad after suffering from concussion against Cheltenham, but Grimsby have no new injuries. No doubt Wilkinson will want to stamp his own imprint on the team and some changes are inevitable as the Mariners hope to avoid an unlucky thirteenth game without a win. With Town's large squad, including seven loan players, there are a huge number of possible permutations of starting lineup.

Cambridge striker Barry Corr and winger Medy Elito are both expected to return to the squad. Cambridge came from behind to end their winless streak with a 3-2 win over strugglers Chesterfield last week which eased fears that they could, like Town, get sucked into the relegation battle.

The Mariners drew 0-0 with the U's back in October, but Town did the double over United last season.
