The Rebirth Of Our Football Club

I STOOD on a warm and pleasant day at Weymouth with a pint in my hand watching one of the worst games I had seen for a while, but nevertheless, it was enjoyable and a great following yet again of Town fans.

My mind was wondering of how many away games I would be able to make for the following season, as I live down south the NL brought many opportunities of small and tidy (some not so) new stadiums to visit.

Eastleigh was a more exciting affair seeing as its a ten minute drive from me , an entertaining game in a small but neat stadium, there is a club across the road to which is suitable for a few before games. Good to see a old faces again and quite a lot of new ones on the pitch - some that won't be seen again a couple that would go on to become heroes.

The first two play off games were all viewed in my local sports bar, no Town fans in there but they take a passing interest now especially after the Wrexham game.

Then we moved on to the London Stadium after ticket pricing issues, strikes and travel problems 15 thousand town fans made there way to the capital. Before the game we took over Westfield. Many beers being consumed and all our favourite town songs sung, 12 year olds looking a danger to themselves with flares and shopping hungry couples looking dismayed as they tried to force their way through the crowds.

The game was good: we turned up, unlike the Millennium Stadium when we didn't. I thought we would win once their basketball player went off but didn't picture it being in such dramatic style.

After 20 years, I decided to get a season ticket for the first time again, I haven't been to a home game for a while and don't make many. I was disillusioned and had enough of false promises and decay. I won't even make half the games but want to do my bit to help the club again, because once again I know it's now our club.

There will be ups and downs, wins and losses, dodgy refs and incidents.

But believing in who we have and sticking by them I know we have a bright future.

So thank you: Stockwood, Petit, Cook, Hurst, everyone behind the scenes, the players and the fans.

We are truly a community club reborn again
